I read the Grenada Today article titled Mars explains appointment with amazement. The issue at hand is the hiring of Ms. Shanica Gilbert as the human resources manager at the government operated Gravel, Concrete and Emulsion Production Corporation (Gravel and Concrete). Ms. Gilbert is the daughter of Joe Gilbert who serves as the Minister of Works in the ruling NDC administration. The Grenada Today article illuminates the sordid state of journalism and politics in the tri-island state.
For Grenada Carnival 2009, Raphael Johnson (Croquetta) delieves a huge commentary that should rocket him into the calypso finals. The song titled "Just Suppose" will no doubt stand the test of time.

In what appears to be a remake of Singing MC’s 1980’s hit, LaBaye Carnival, Finley Jeffery (Scholar) provides Soca lovers with an up-tempo selection for carnival 2009. The song also titled “LaBaye Carnival” is destined to become the anthem for Rainbow City celebration 2009 and beyond.

Former Calypso, Soca and Groovy Monarch, Finley Jeffery (Scholar) continues in the trend of “Hold What” and “Some Man”, by presenting songs addressing social issues in a manner that is uniquely Grenadian and spiced with dashes of humor.
In his 2009 selection titled “Stimulus Package,” Scholar sings about the plight of women who are burdened with men who are unable to perform in the bedroom. Scholar also educates listeners about various local homemade remedies for improving male virility. From Lambie Waters to Mauby Bark, Tania Log and Sea Moss, Scholar leaves no stone unturned.
