The Grenada Trades' Union Council (GTUC) will celebrate May Day, Workers' Day in the parish of St. Andrew on Tuesday May 1st, 2007 under the theme "Safe guarding Workers' Right and demanding Good Governance."
Activities begin at Progress Park in St. Andrew where
the Affiliates of the GTUC will gather for a parade on
to Grenville Recreation Ground (Victoria Park) where
the rally takes place.
The Feature Address will be delivered by the President
of the GTUC- Sister Madonna Harford. The Presidents of
the other Unions will also make brief remarks.
The GTUC will also recognise two workers who have
contributed to the further development of the
movement. They are former President of the Public
Workers' Union (PWU) and First Vice President of the
GTUC- Sister Luret Clarkson and Sister Alicia Pierre
of Carriacou who served as a PWU Shop-steward for more
than a decade.
One of the key features of the celebrations is the

the amendment to the National Parks Act by Government.
